Ya, they are going to give you those tires and another set. take some responsibility and you should have checked your tires when you left. No one has any responsibility today. They put it off on everyone else. yes, they made a mistake. Dont expect reimbursement for something that COULD have happened.
I hope they make you keep the tires you have honestly. Mr Persuasive.
Hey, look, I'm all for personal responsibility. I'm not a leech, I'm a productive member of society and I pay more in income taxes than most people earn in a year.
I check and research everything. I'm one of those insatiably curious people that detests ignorance on any subject, especially my own.
It's not something that COULD have happened. It's the fact that they put the WRONG tires on my truck. You wouldn't be angry about that? The invoice says nothing about load rating, but it does list the vehicle as a 2008 Chevy Suburban 2500. By definition, they should know that truck requires E tires. In fact, that was my first question when I walked in this morning. They looked it up and said, "Yep, E load rating tires."
I was not even aware that the tires were available in a "C" load rating. If I'd known that, I'd have checked. These are commercial tires that have NO treadwear warranty. They're marketed to commercial snowplow fleets. How many of those are half-ton trucks?
Apparently, I'm not the only one unaware of the C tires. The manager at Goodyear wasn't aware of it, either. He went back out to the truck twice to look for himself. He admitted to me that he had no idea that those tires even existed in the C load rating. Of course, "the guy who sold you those tires no longer works here."
He told me the cost difference was $33 per tire. I told him I'd give him $100 for all 4. He said ok. The new tires will be installed today.
I had to take the last tires back two more times for balancing issues. Let's see how these do.
ETA: Here's the pertinent part of the original invoice:
