Goofy Garmin Directions

I’ve had my Garmin 50 LMT for years. It has performed nearly flawlessly with one exception...it will occasionally try to take me down a exit lane that turns into a merge lane. Particularly in north Atlanta just before downtown traveling south it tries to route me to an exit just to have me re-merge onto I75 south.
My Wife and I with our boys left on a Friday night to travel south to see my folks in Florida. Traffic was “red” from Chattanooga past Atlanta on I24 and I75 On the traffic apps...I looked at my wife and said...want to take a detour? It will be a longer trip but a lot less traffic. She said sure...let’s do it!
We hit I59 and headed towards I10– Our Garmin GPS was not happy and kept screaming at us...we quickly turned it off and went back with the good old Randy McNally paper map. My wife was thrilled! She was the vacation planner in her family when she was a child. Brought back a ton of memories and you know what..we got right where we needed to be with no fuss or squawking box!
We may take the next trip GPS less. I’m sure DW would love it!
