Got rid of the trailer, went back to tent camping

I'm joking, no way could I not have a camper! But I do still tent camp and man did it get windy. 30 mph winds plays hek with tents.

Not even storming or raining, just beautiful blue skies.

It's a private campground that is making a come back. Very quiet, low lights to display a star riddled sky at night, and very large campsites.

Downfall, 1 toilet, 2 sinks, and no walking trails, just golf cart trails (walk at your own risk). Also only a handful of open campsites that aren't seasonal reserved sites. Owners are very nice and bringing the campground back from disrepair.

I like this type of campground and use to tent camp here before being a RV owner. Wife on the other hand most likely won't care for it. She likes state parks (as I do), which have a lot of hiking trails and other nature activities. Not much to do here besides walk the campground and enjoy your campsite. It's a nice get away from all noise and crowds though, which the state parks are plagued with.

I'm still here at the campground. Here's some pics of the site and surrounding area and videos of the winds I delt with. HERE

  • Ya it was windy! I had a hard time keeping the pool toys in the pool!

So.......who sleeps in the tall narrow tent?
  • We left our TT in south TX after our winter vacation and will be tenting our way back to it this week from southern IL. We will use the tent for beach camping after school starts back and the weather gets cooler there. Tents are ok in nice weather and for a short trip. We also have a bathroom tent!
  • We do both.
We winter in the Florida Keys and south Florida with our travel trailer, but while there we do kayaking camping in the Everglades National Park and the Ten Thousand Islands.
It is absolutely awesome do get into the wilderness or on a remote beach where there are no barking dogs, loud music, roaring diesel engines - Just pure quiet, miles and miles from civilation.
We have camped on tropical island beaches that are an endless shell hunters dream. Where you can fill a boat load of beautiful shells in just a few hundred feet.
It is nice to have both worlds
