Government shut down killing our vacation!!!!
Looks like our Shenendoah vacation might not happen ... We were headed to luray va to do the Skyline drive and then to Gettysburg!!!! Oh well

We are still at Lake Powell NRA camping at a primitive area. Rangers are coming by telling everyone we need to pack up and leave by 4PM tomorrow. We were planning to go to the Grand Canyon Friday night, and they said that will be closed as well. That is the only effect to our vacation, but it still stings a bit. Plans are made well in advance and we drove a long way to get here. May be years before we get to swing by again. Oh well.
Go to the west grand canyon near Kingman on the Res.
you can even walk out on the glass walkway over the canyon.Also check out Rt 66.
