Grand Design campers?

In August I traded our Outoors RV Timber Ridge for a Grand Design Reflection 303BHTS. We bought the Outdoors Rv for its quality reputation and excellent insulation for winter camping. We spend 50 + nights a year in our rig am decided we needed more room and separate "true" bunk room for kids. We loved our Timber Ridge-- there are pluses and minuses either way. I believe the quality is very similar. the Grand Design is higher end from a finish stand point and has some nicer features including things like slide motors etc. the Outdoors RV slide seals and insulation were better but not likely to make a difference in how we use it. grand Design TT s feel like a high end 5,era with things like dump controls inside cargo door etc.

When I saw bunk mattresses were really just pads made out of tyvek material and about 1/2" thick, I thought it was joke until I seen them on all the bunks.

Don't see how they'll make it with this quality. Hopefully they'll change as competition is a good thing, just can't believe they came through the gates only offering this. This was on a $43,000 5er.

Yea, Mike, I went in there for parts the other day. I seems they are loaded up with those. I was wondering the same thing. But it is nice to see something other than the Thor trailers they have. You kinda piqued my interest. When I go to pick up the parts I ordered, I might have a looksee.

Grand Design has been around for a while - and build good units. They have one of the best reputations in the industry for customer service. They build three lines at this point: Solitude (high-end, full-time type units), Reflection (fifth wheels and travel trailers; lighter than Solitude and called "mid-profile" - but still suitable for extended stay and some of us full-time in them), and Momentum toy haulers. They had some recent issues with the wrong axles being installed by Lippert (the chassis supplier) on one model, but Grand Design builds good quality. Head over to the GD owners forum and read information written by people who actually own them...

No first hand experience BUT GD owners are generally very satisfied. They seem to have a good reputation overall on the forum

They had two models at the Hershey show. Both less than 6,000 lbs. The BH model was under 32' and the couples model was under 30'. Both had 60x80" queen beds, a large shower, 6'9" of headroom and recliners that faced the TV. The interior had a sleek, airstream quality to it, but with dark wood and white glass in the cabinets. They looked very impressive to me. Only one had been sold so far, so I think I will wait until they perfect the process before buying.

Probably more real reviews than heresay over here.

I went to the Dallas RV show last weekend and I thought the Grand Design looked like a higher quality on the inside than the Jayco and the GD was several thousand dollars more expensive. I'm new to this and it looks like you own a Jayco. How long have you owned Jayco and what's your experience with their quality? One thing that caught my eye on GD's website is they advertise their trailers as approved for full-time living. That's my intended use and I didn't see that claim on Jayco's website. I'm not arguing because I don't know who's good or bad in this business. I'm trying to learn it.

I'm surprised to hear this, I thought Grand Design was one of those top-of-the-line campers. Maybe they are scaling back like so many other manufacturers have done.

Grand Design was started by 3 former Keystone executives ...they waited till their non compete clause expired .

I wonder if they are affiliated with Jayco or Keystone? They are located in Middlebury, IN, within 20 miles of both companies.
