That seems like a lot of trailer for a half ton. You may be way ahead of me on this, but just in case.....don't make the same very costly mistake that I did. That is, to believe the towing/payload capacities claimed by the truck manufacturers. They are as inflated as gas mileage claims, in my opinion.
My truck's GVWR is 6900 lbs. Dry weight is 6000 pounds, leaving just 900 lbs for passengers, gear, AND tongue weight. With a tongue weight for my TT at 1,000 lbs (weighed by me), you can see that my half ton is way overloaded. Also, the supposed 10,000 lbs of towing capacity greatly exceeds what the Trailer Life Towing Guide lists for my truck (7900 lbs). I believe the latter, based on my experiences. Lastly, the weight of the trailer as advertised is the DRY weight, and does not include gear, food, water, and upgrades (spare tire, slide out covers, ladder etc.). You'll need to include that weight when comparing it to your truck's towing capacity. My advice...1) weigh your truck on a scale, compare it to the allowed GVWR, and see how much you have left over for tongue weight. 2) Check the Trailer Life Towing Guide to see what it says about your towing vehicle's capacity.
