Grand Design Imagine 3150BH

Does anyone tow a Grand Design Imagine 3150BH with a late model, 2017, 1/2 ton truck. It looks like it may be on the border with load capability, not pulling?
  • I estimate that's over 8500 pounds loaded for al long weekend with 1100 pounds of TW. Few half tons can handle that and not exceed one rating or another with a family in the cab. Payload, rear axle, and receiver ratings should be verified in addition to tow rating.
  • You will be over a rating somewhere for sure, most likely payload or receive hitch rating. With the right setup hitch wise you can probably tow it safely, but I would imagine that there will be some white knuckle moments. That's a lot of trailer for a half ton, what gears does your truck have?
  • I have a Grand Design 2150RB and the published tongue weight is 485lbs. My actual tongue weight is 750lbs (2 propane tanks, 2 batteries & WDH). So the published weight is misleading. Can you pull it "YES". Will you be over on 1 or more rating for your truck most likely. Will it be a enjoyable towing experience? Probable NOT.

    Remember its 35ft 11inches long!
  • Seriously undertrucked, especially if your 1/2-ton is a crew cab & you're hauling a family.
