Well this ended up being a strange situation.
I replaced the right hand bearings, seal, drum and brake assembly that had disintegrated on my last trip. It was the normal rear seal, rear bearing, front bearing, washer, castle nut and cotter pin.
When I checked the left side I discovered that there was no washer under the Castle nut. I had an extra washer but when I put it on, half of the cotter pin hole was under the nut.
I do not recall there being a washer on the right side when I replace the original hub. I guess the unit came from the factory with no washer under the castle nut on either side and I wonder if anyone has seen this before?
