A couple of things: in the USA, fuel is fairly cheap at the pump, even when "prices are up" because we do not tax the consumer to death ( like the EU countries do ).
The second thing is, most consumers of these vehicles in the United States have a good enough job or enough money in the bank that fluctuating fuel prices means little.
We buy and drive what we want. If other markets demand small, underpowered, hard riding trucks, that have good fuel economy and a high payload, then so be it. Try to sell that here and it would fail in the marketplace overnight.
When I need to haul a "heavy load in a pickup", I use my F350 dually. When I am just doing light work, or daily driving, I drive my Nissan Frontier. Right tools for the jobs.
The reason people do not like riding in a F250 here is the ride, which many find unbearable. , so mystery why people use them as a daily driver in the U.S.?. Same here right tools for the job
