While I certainly don't want to get into a long discussion about door tags and "DOT", Your right and the OP should sell his camper or truck and start over , for that matter so should we all that have exceded our door tags, going to be a lot of campers and trucks for sale on craigs list next week I think :R
I'll bet if he weighs it he'll find out he can make it work but pack lite
As far as your statement about door stickers and DOT goes I didn't make the rules. And I don't give a rats behind about GVWR nor GCWR but axle & tire requirements are in fact legal requirements. If you or anybody else wants to knowingly ignore them that's your choice and your risk but it doesn't make it legal or safe to be on the road. In this case it wasn't the OPs knowledgable choice he got very bad advance from a dealer which is a whole different kettle of fish then knowingly violating the actual requirements.
How would he make it work and stay within the door tag?
He says his truck weighs 7800 lbs and his GVW on the door tag says 10100 that's a payload of 2300 lbs the camper weights 4000 lbs he says
The axle door tag is usally 2x the tire rating of the tire on the door tag ,he says its 6200lbs , no way his truck weighs 2200lbs in the rear
Pack light?
Pack helium balloons ?:?
