Any time you max out or exceed a vehicles rating, it will fail quicker. Why do you think Lincoln Towncars and Caddys do so well. They are not driven hard most of the time and they are not maxed out. A lot of them have the same motors the 1/2 ton trucks do and they are not worked like a truck, hence 200k miles on a towncar.
I have a f350 DRW, and I only have a 2500 pound camper (1800 dry). I just bought it and drove it for the first time this week, but it drove like a dream. I used to have a popup on there that only weighed 1800lbs loaded. again, didn't know it was there.
Less stress and more room for towing.
PLUS less wear and tear on vehicle.
