How would he make it work and stay within the door tag?
He says his truck weighs 7800 lbs and his GVW on the door tag says 10100 that's a payload of 2300 lbs the camper weights 4000 lbs he says
The axle door tag is usally 2x the tire rating of the tire on the door tag ,he says its 6200lbs , no way his truck weighs 2200lbs in the rear
Pack light?
Pack helium balloons ?:?
Geez kind of an about face on your part isn't? You started with aftermarket tires are good so your good to now he needs helium balloons. WOW
You ever hear of sarcasm
I stand by what I said first
Given the numbers he first gave he will be near or likely exceeding his upgraded tire limit of 3750 each
Many TC owners here make their own decisions regarding safe weight limits , taking tire and axle limits into view , not manuf. door tags
You said that was bad advice ,follow the door tag , then said forget the GVW ,but follow the gross axle weight given on it
I`m try to point out to you that is not adding up
Even if his truck weighed 7000 lbs and camper weighed 4000 lbs it would exceed his GVW ,and with loading the camper be over door tag axel limit 6200 lbs , which is probably the stock tire limit x2, not the AM axle limit
My 2500 dodge diesel quad cab 4x4 weighs 7640 lbs full of fuel with me in it and the rear weighs 3000 lbs
I said load it then weigh it and decide , maybe go to 19.5`s
If you think that's bad advice , its your opinion
No way his SRW truck actually weighs 7800#, my fully loaded dully with all kinds of******on it and in it weighs 7800# empty. He's probably around 7000# in reality with about 3000# on rear axle. With 6900# rating that leaves 3900# load available for the axle. Even if his guess of 4000# TC is right not all of that goes on the rear, some goes on the front.
He needs to actually weigh it to find out. He might make it he might not. It's going to be close.
He said the camper says 4000 lbs , that's could be a wet with no option # or a ship from the factory # with option and no fluid , but dosent include what he will camp with , obviously will be more
But your "du a lly "aside his number is 6200 not 6900 leaving 3200 not 3900
To the OP sorry to hear the dealer did that to you , you would be better off with a dually but could make it work ,others have
Even if you got a dually or a higher rated truck DOT limits the door tag to 11499 lbs before the builder has to class it as not a pickup truck and as a motor carrier and registration is different then
They play with these numbers to make trucks more saleable
That leaves us with these decisions
Good luck
