Hankook Dynapro HT RH12 (LT235/80R17)

Has anyone had Hankook LT235/80R17 tires? They are a 70,000 mile tire same as Michelin LTX M/S2 but about $400 cheaper.

My history with Hankook. Replaced the Goodyear 614 {came with my 04 HH, ones that did not blow up just did not wear only around 40,000, just a real bad tires}. Replaced with hankook 750/16 14ply same as G. When we traded it off had put around 50,000 miles tires still looked like new & no problems! We worked on the road & traveled every 2/4 days.

Have Michelin LTX M/S2 LT235/80R17 on our 07 3500 Mega Cab
DRW Dodge. Got 75,000 on them getting close to needing new tires still have 3/16 but got a nail in the side of bottom can't fix. In about 30 days before we hit the road. Got a little time to look around not much.

They have both been great tires for me, but with Hankook can save around $400. How has Hankook worked for you?

Thanks

  • I think I will send the wife in to deal with folks from now on. At Walmart she walked out the door with, 6 Michelin LTX M/S2 LT235/80R17, for $1,441 I thank an incredible walking out the door price. We full time so I like Walmart as I rotate tires every 5K got 85K on last LTX'S. She was going to town so ask her to check in at Walmart the cost of putting Hankook tires on with life time rotation & balance. Could not believe she was able to get the LTX M/S2's for that incredible price just could not go with the Hankooks. Just happy with price!

  • Was going to get the Hankook tires from tire rack then take to walmart so we could have nation wide rotation & balance "we full time". I broke ribs so wife went to walmart & talked them. She started talking to them about the Michelin LTX M/S2 got them with in $200 of the Hankook & I do not have to load them in the truck with broken ribs. So Monday just going to put Michelin back on the truck & all we have to do is just pull my tuck in to walmart. I do rotate them every 5,000 it works, got 85K on two & 75K on the other 4, going to replace all 6 this time. As they are great tires just wanted to save a little money.

  • I had a set of Hankooks that were never any problem at all. I just replaced them recently with the michelin tires. Only reason for the change in brands was the new Hankook was made in China and the ones I had on the truck were made in Korea (Michelins had a rebate going that helped). I just really didn't want to use a Chinese tire on my truck no matter who's name is on it.
  • I have dyna pro ATM on a 2500 diesel and on a 1500 gasser. I got the highest load weight rating I could for the diesel. Around 60k on the tires now and should get another 20k easy. Plenty good for this winter snow in northern WI yet. I don't remember what the load weight rating is on the 1500 tires, as its a grocery getter. Those tires also have about 60k on and are getting down there. I will run them this winter yet, but it's a highway queen truck that never sees off road.

I am very happy with the Hankook tires, and have a few friends that like them too. IMO it's the best tire on the market for the price, by far.

I know it's a slightly different tire than what you are asking, but IMO, the highway tire you are asking about will probably last even longer.
I've never been a fan of Michelin, just because they are WAY overpriced.
  • Have the Hankook DynaPeo on our truck and IMO, it is a much better tire than the over priced, over hyped Michelin.
