Had the jack cut open and the Acme nylon nut completely 'shot' It was possible to pull the threaded rod through the nylon nut. It would appear that lubrication on the older type is not doing its job. Happijac suggest removing the inner leg and lubricate the threaded rod with Lithium grease. I'm not sure if you'll be able to determine the state of the Acme nylon nut. It is not possible to replace the nut alone as it's swaged onto the inner leg for obvious reasons. Could my episode also explain the leg dropping on the highway, that another member posted?
