I have a BD Diesel brake with the switch on the shift lever.
On narrow, steep down grade corners or off road it is nice to switch the brake on and off with the shifter hand.
The brake will stay on in neutral with the throttle at idle position and no clutch pedal movement (clutch pedal "out").
In cold weather or if the engine is not fully warmed up when I drive off in city traffic I will engage the brake at red lights etc to speed warm up.
