How far does one have to drive (1/4 mile, etc) for the calibration procedure?

It took me a least half a mile of starts and stops, plus I had some traffic show up unexpectedly and had to go to another road between calibration runs. IIRC, I had to do about a dozen runs. The app tells you to use soft, medium, and hard acceleration with no tire spin several times, coming to a complete stop in between runs and remaining stopped maybe 30 seconds between runs. The app does give you exact instructions each step.
I found that you can make turns and change roads between runs because you press a start button for each run.

I'm going to make a quick post here, and will be back this weekend for a longer review.

I bought one of these units about 6 weeks ago. In short, it works perfectly and accurately. It takes a little tweaking to get used to it, but I have found it to be within about 100lbs of the exact weights I am getting when stopping at the CAT scales I use.

More importantly, I had a few questions and sent an e-mail to their engineer. He returned my e-mail a few hours later, and I have been in almost daily contact with him for the last few weeks, working out issues I had with my truck, that were not related to the haulgauge unit.

Btw I never wore Cavariccis or parachute pants either.... well had one pair of parachute pants. My dad laffed at me then they ripped right away....thank god. Didn’t even make a good shop rag after that !

I PMed Haulgauge about my experiences with a couple recommendations for better customer experience and improvements, like adding a digital readout, demo program, and ability to enter data while not connected.

On a separate note:
There is NO iPad app. Do an iPad app search for Haulgauge and you get nothing on them. If you select iPhone apps only (on the iPad), it will be listed and download. Pretty goofy. Told Haulgauge about that, too. Their website states compatible with iOS 10.3 and higher. My iPad is iOS 10.3.3 and up to date.

Edit: received a proper reply email later same day! Not a form letter. He did mention changing the weight scale shown for better weight determination. And the lack of iPad support.

Well, my Haulgauge came in a couple days ago. I put it in the Explorer yesterday and drove off to calibrate it to the TV.
My experience:
First, there is no written guide available. There is no demo program in the phone app.
You must go search the App Store for the app, no website link either.
If your vehicle is 2008 or older, or if for some reason isn't in the library, you will need the TV VIN, GVWR, CCC, and weight of occupants and any preloaded cargo. You CANNOT enter any data in the app until the Haulgauge is connected via Bluetooth. It will scan to see if can detect your VIN to obtain the needed data from the Haulgauge library. So have that data handy.
Next, to calibrate you will need a couple miles of straight and level road. It has you accelerate easy, medium, and hard (no wheel spin) to 15mph MANY times and come to a complete stop after you reach 15mph and it tells you to stop. I did have to make a couple turns between runs due to the roads and traffic. The calibration still worked.
A demo or written instructions would have given me a needed heads up on the driving part ;(
My TV with DW & I and the usual "junk in the trunk" weigh in around 5200# using this calibration. I intend to recalibrate being better prepared.
So far my only disappointment with the Haulgauge is that the meter is shown as an analog gauge vice digital amount so some estimating is required. It wouldn't take much to have both data forms. Maybe in a future program update?
The suspension calibration is so simple even AOC could do it. You open the tailgate or liftgate, type in your weight, select start calibration, then sit on the end of the TV and lift your feet up off the ground.
Again, when I recalibrate, I will weigh myself at home prior to leaving for better accuracy. If I really want to get anal about it, I'd gut all my everyday carried cargo out, too.

Or maybe for an RV dealer to demonstrate the promise "you can tow this"
