hauling travel trailer

I need to have someone haul our 27' Flagstaff travel trailer from Golden, CO to Tampa, Florida area. Any recommendations? Where do I look for someone to do this?
  • A drop deck / low boy may be low enough to fit under the overpasses. I had a guy pick up a GMC motorhome and he said it was OK. Shipped from AZ to GA.

    Try Uship.com

Have you ever watched "Shipping Wars"?

Yeah, those folks on that reality show are supposed to be the "select" shippers FOR Uship..

After watching them I am not real sure I would want to use Uship..

Might wish to stick with REAL RV towing outfits..

Perhaps check with a few RV dealers and see if they have any recommendations..

I think they are too tall once on a flatbed to fit under overpasses. At least that is what my dealer tells me is the reason they are all individually driven across the country. I was actually at an RV show last week talking to a salesmen about this exact thing. He said once they tried hauling them on trains and they showed up covered with graffiti :(
  • Good luck. Make sure whoever you pick for job has his own insurance and properly executes paperwork BEFORE hooking up.

  • Just for comparison sake I was recently quoted $2/mile to haul a new TT from Illinois to Oregon. I have never researched this before and have no idea if that's a good or bad price. Using that number to compare prices of similar new models between where they are made and where they are for sale I can tell you that number is in the ballpark.

Do a search under 'horse transportation' in your area.

These haulers are certified and insured and I found them to be less costly than any "RV" specialized hauler since anything named RV always has to cost more.

I've used them several times. And since there are usually many local ones available there are no added charges just for the pick up.

This time of year when all of them are running horse trailers back and forth to Florida, you will most likely find one to give you a real good deal if he was deadheading that way.
