The TT was designed to travel with a full tank so I travel with a full tank.
If I am going to a place where I know the water to be good maybe 1/3 of a tank.
If I am going on a short trip, I might carry 2/3rds of a tank.
I can tell you that one or two bouts with bad tasting campground water will convince you.
