Our 1st TT rubbed as well, and we sold it after 4 years without any holes.. it was used plenty and on lots of dirt roads with plenty of vibration.
Our current TT has a different style antenna, it has the FM receiver and TV antenna in a single flat "dish" that is raised off the roof about 12". There is no way for it to rub.
Even thou you don't use them I would advise against removal, what if the world ends while your camping and want to hear it go down :-).
I'll see if I can find who makes our current antenna, a swap would be worth it IMHO..
Oh yeah, the new antenna also gets MUCH better FM/AM reception in the mountains.
