Not sure if that is true on the 1/2 ton market, but in the 3/4 ton and 1 ton market, not even close to true.
A quick cars.com search will show that for a 4-5 year old Diesel Ram you're looking at an asking price of 35k+ which happens to be about the same as the other 2, and especially good considering those are Tradesman's that sold for just a bit over 40k when new.
All of the HD trucks hold value extremely well which is a big reason I bought a new truck this time. Couldn't justify saving 7 or 8 thousand under new to buy a truck that was 4-5 years old.
