Don't they usually say that even if you only save a teaspoon of fuel in 100 miles, when that is multiplied by 5 million vehicles it becomes a LOT of fuel, and it is definitely worth saving?
Yet, when it comes to the fuel saved by not having a load on the alternator (yes, it is about a teaspoonful per 100 miles, certainly no more than that), it is a non-issue due to the perceived increase in safety.
Our motorhome has lights that come on with the ignition. They are mildly annoying, but not enough that I am going to attempt to disable them.
Current production LED DRL systems draw about 5 watts. How much does your car's radio draw?
