- BurbManExplorer IISomething like 95% of Suburbans were 1500 models. Why the Excursion was pulled....it competed with the 2500 burb not the soccer Mom market where the sales are, and why the Expy EL is doing much better, it competes with the 1500 burb.

I agree, since a 1500 Suburban (or Expedition) seems to meet the needs of probably 90% of full size SUV buyers. A HD diesel version would be popular with government and fleets, but those are fairly low-profit market segments.- BenKExplorerOh...would also wish for a 42 gallon fuel tank like what mine has right now
- BenKExplorerCall my 1996 GMT400 3/4 ton, 7.4L, 4x4 Suburban a K3500...because it has the
same rear live axle as the 1 ton dually of that year and the biggie is that ordered
it with the F60 option, which is the 1 ton front torsion bars (snow plow prep
package)
Same RGAWR of 6,000 lbs. Front is 4,250 GAWR whereas the 1 ton dually
has a 5,xxx front GAWR
Don't know about the frame, but the main difference is in the rear brake cylinders
(larger bore...mine has been converted to them) and the front disc is thicker
and thicker pads. MC is bored larger too and mine has also been converted
I keep my vehicles for decades and decades....but if they do come out with a
true 1 ton (K3500) Suburban...I'd most likely jump after a couple years after
it comes out...might even get one of them first off if it looks good to me
I'd prefer a higher GVWR and no diesel. The iron block 6.0L and would add a
blower. Not convinced the 6.2L Alu block will do for me.
Manual over an automatic.
The 7K RGAWR. 11.5" ring gear and 4.1's
Of course a better traditional design receiver that is NOT part of the bumper
Numbers isn't the only thing...pure marketing "King of the SUV's" is
huge and drive even more sales for the whole family of SUV/CUV's
Might even drag sales numbers up for the fake Suburban...AKA Yukon XL - TystevensExplorerI would like to see a 3/4 ton Suburban with ratings along the lines of the 2500HD pickups. I'd love to see one with that could legitimately handle an 11,000 lb trailer with a family of 6 inside. Hopefully with a diesel under the hood! That's probably what it would take to get me really interested, because that is what we need.
I concede, however, that the market for such a vehicle is probably quite small. So I'm not holding my breath. - BurbManExplorer IIHow do you figure? My 01 has a GVWR of 8600 and weighs 6700 lbs with full fuel and me in it, so payload is around 2000 lbs. How much heavier would the truck get to increase GVWR to 9200 with the 6.2L gas? Doubt we will ever see DMax/Ally in a burb....
From Wikipedia:
Recent chatter on several GM enthusiast sites has made reference to a "Suburban 3500" (or 1-ton version) coming in 2016, which would be a GM-unique SUV, but so far GM has not confirmed or denied the existence of this program. - mich800Explorer

Just read where it might be a 3500 Suburban...possibly 9200 or higher GVWR, which would make it a killer SUV!! Would eat into some of the HD crew cab market for sure!
How big of a step up would this be. Was the 2500 sub light. dosen't seem like a 9200 gvwr would leave a lot of payload. - N-TroubleExplorerPic or it doesn't exist...
2016 models are right around the corner. I could see a gas version but not a Dmax/Ally. - BurbManExplorer IIJust read where it might be a 3500 Suburban...possibly 9200 or higher GVWR, which would make it a killer SUV!! Would eat into some of the HD crew cab market for sure!
- DadoffourgirlsExplorerI think there were some spy shots of the 8-lug Suburban not to long ago.
Most likely focused on the fleet - Government needs. When the Secret Service got done armoring the Prius for Obama, it did not do well.
