- colliehaulerExplorer IIIIf they would only put the Duramax Allison in it. I second the 1400-1500# receiver.
- APTExplorerWe love ours and do see 2 other GMT900 3/4 tons running around our area (but never intheburbs). The economy and market for full sized SUVs in late 2000's was poor, so sales were down a lot, like 1/3 the sales compared to early 2000s. 2014 GM had 75% of the full sized SUV market and sold over 200k of them. Hopefullly they recognize the need for highher capability, especially given the 2015 Ecoboost Expy. A future model needs to have power levels of the 6.2L in the Denali/Escalade and most importantly receiver rating of 1400-1500 pounds!
Clues suggest the potential 2016 HD Suburban is fleet only and 5.3L only. Hopefully that is proven wrong.
I'd love a diesel 3/4 ton Burb. However, a 2015 version half ton with the equipment of my 2011 is already $10k higher than mine. A diesel would be $75k+ and out of my price range for the foreseeable future. - BenKExplorerIMHO...that is the biggie in the Marketing ID person decision to kill
their 'King of the Hill' SUV Ford's Excursion gave the 8.6K Sub a run,
but it didn't make it for long
But, numbers are not the main thing and again IMHO
1933 is the first year of the Suburban and has the longest continuous running
marketing badge in automotive history. It is also the most recognized
badge in the world
Sooner than later...foreign badges *WILL* come out with a +8.6K GVWR full sized
pickup and SUV...to eat Detroit's lunch...again...if Detroit doesn't have this
already on showroom floors - intheburbsExplorerI'll believe it when I see one in the showroom. According to the build sheet on my 2008, Chevy built only 5,867 Burb 2500s that year. Compared to probably 50,000-75,000 half-tons.
I'm a real car guy - I'm always checking out the cars around me. In the last 12 months, I've probably seen ONE other 3/4-ton GMT900 Burb/Yukon XL in my area. And this is SE Michigan, where 90%+ of folks drive American cars and trucks, and have lots of toys to haul - snowmobiles, ATVs, RVs and boats.
