Heated seat question

2010 GMC 2500HD
Drivers side heated seat works fine. Passenger side comes on, stays on for a minute and clicks off. If I try to turn on just the back the same thing happens, shuts off after about a minute. Did some internet searching and was assured that it has to be the heating element for the seat back that is burnt out. Order a new factory OEM one. plugged it in before installing completely, and the same thing is happening. About 2 seconds before it shuts off, I can hear a little click from under the drivers seat I believe? Any ideas? Thank you.
  • I did watch that video. Thanks. It seems like my problem should be with the seat back heater element. I can isolate the seat back heater by turning it just on, and not the bottom. That trips the switch to turn off. That's what the video suggests too. I suppose it's possible that the brand new seat back heater element I got is bad? Or there is something else going on?
  • If it was the seat element, my understanding was that if you turned on just the back heat, then it would work and not shut off? Mine shuts off when both are on, and when just the back is on. Makes sense. right?
  • could be the "seat" element that is bad - shorting out causing excessive draw or relay, door switch, programming or a short in the wiring under the seat.
