The undercarriage of our new TT is sealed to keep the tanks and lines from freezing, or so we were told. It's some sort of 4-seasons Arctic feature. But I'm reading here that a lot of people are using ceramic and other space heaters instead of their furnaces. Other than using the campground's electricity instead of your own propane, what is the advantage of that?
We have one of those oil filled heaters that looks like a radiator. I turn it on and then set the furnace for about 5 degrees less. If the heater does not keep up the furnace kicks on.
The furnace is noisy and the heater is quiet. I'd also rather not buy a bottle of propane every 3 days. If temps fall below freezing I run the furnace to keep the tanks from freezing but when temps are above freezing it's easier just to run the electric heater. There is a product called "Cheap Heat" which is really misnamed but it adds an electric coil to your furnace outlet plenum so you have a choice of gas or electric heat blowing through your ducts.
