Heavy Duty / Super Duty Truck as Daily Driver

Soooo I find myself needing a new vehicle unexpectedly. I want to be able to tow the current TT which is about 22' and has a dry weight of 3300 lbs as well as the next larger TT I'm likely to get. I was using a 4WD Honda Pilot.

As the kids get older we will all want more room so it would probably be a 30' - 35' pull behind. Based on payload calculations for the larger TT, I'm finding myself needing a Silverado 2500 and it would also have to be my daily driver.

I don't see a way around getting into a Super Duty or Heavy Duty truck. Is that nuts to use it as a daily driver? I would prefer a light truck, but I wouldn't be able to get a new truck and a new TT at the same time so this is my opportunity to get the truck.

Thanks!
  • Been doing this for 15 years.
No issues except sometimes parking in a big city can be a challenge.
  • F350 is our daily driver.
It works, stiff ride and about 13 mpg.

Daliy drove our 2001 Ram 2500 CTD until I retired in June. Great thing about daily driving your TV is you get comfortable with its size.
  • There are tons of people that daily drive a 3/4 or 1 ton that could do quite nicely with a Civic.
  • When I traded the old dually for f250 it became my daily driver. No big d al. Love it. Use little more gas but going from 2 to 3 vehicles has been great.

On a side note I prob won’t do another dually. Parking and drive through issues were a pain. My srw tows great with no body roll.
  • I use mine as a daily driver but I’m retired so not a lot of miles. It’s a diesel so I have to make sure that I get it out on the highway once a week or so.
  • Mine is a daily driver and I love it. Bit stiffer ride but otherwise it lacks nothing compared to a half ton and it adds a ton of capability. My previous half ton was the last one I’ll own.
