Before I try to fire up any of my propane appliances, I test to see if adequate gas is in the lines by firing the top burners on the stove.
When firing up a cranky appliance with a pilot ignition, I use a butane torch and direct the flame at the thermocouple area so the thermocouple is heated. This helps to open the gas valve when releasing the pilot-full on selector.
RV water heaters are a tender little beast, they need lots of care and attention, especially if left in storage for a long period. I'd suggest to disassemble the burner tube, pull it out, and give it a good cleaning. This should also expose the pilot orifice and gas tube. I'd also remove them and back-blow pressurized air through the orifice. If you hold it to the light, you should be able to look through the orifice hole. If not, the orifice is blocked and will need supplemental cleaning. After these steps, reassemble and your water heater should roar like a little dragon.
If interested in keeping your new batteries charged and healthy, do a search for "converter" and get educated. One thing most new owners don't know is that there are parasitic draws on the batteries even when nothing is being used, AKA in storage. If you don't have a battery disconnect switch. remove the cable from the negative terminal until you can install one.
For me, there is only one brand of converter I would buy and that is a Progressive Dynamics unit. I have a working one in my Starcraft that is 44 years old.
