If you drop that diesel V-6 under the hood of a 2012 Dodge 1500 chasis, you could drive it all over the country without any black sheets. Chances of anyone noticing you at the gas station filling a 1500 with diesel fuel are pretty slim. Exhaust on the new diesels is clean enough that it wouldn't be noticed either.
Honestly...I'd badge it a 2500. NOBODY pays any attention to someone pumping diesel into a 3/4-ton pickup.
