Load truck like your going camping and drive across a set of scales. Subtract scaled weight from GVWR as listed on drivers door post. That is your honest cargo capacity. Read that as maximum pin weight! If in the real world you have 2,000 pounds left over, that means you can handle a 10,000 pound loaded fifth wheel before you exceed your manufacturers GVWR! Of course that does not include 250 pounds for the slider hitch.
Honestly, you will be able to tow way more TT than you will be able to load fifth wheel.
The following is just base on my experience with my TV and not a recommendation!
That may be true within GVWR, but it might be in the real world be safer to carry a bit over GVWR on a 2500, and stay within rear GAWR and tire rating. Pulling a long 11,000# to 12,000# 5er is a lot more stable than pulling a long 10,000# TT, it is all about physics!
