Help finding cause of a spot on the floor

This 2009 Jayco 23B has a spot on the floor in the rear of the camper.

The floor is solid except for the small area circled and can feel the support where the red line is. Dealer seems to believe it’s caused from a spill but not sure yet.

Any and all guesses welcome.

Thanks

  • Blue tint and proximity to bathroom might imply that someone goofed when putting some of that blue toilet deodorizer or maybe it was stored and fell over with loose cap? If your serious then have the rig pressure tested to make sure it's air tight and double check for soft spots.

This a bummer. I’m calling them tomorrow, shouldn’t be an issue to get our down payment back. The other bummer is that it’s a 2 hour drive. Other than this spot the unit is great.

Wise move to walk away from this unit. You need to find a new dealer, they were trying to sell you a unit with (probable) major water damage.
It's not from a 'spill', but the dealer knows that, walk away.

  • Looking at the staining on the floor and you description of a soft spot, there is no doubt that it is water damage and most probably from water intrusion from the outside rather than a leak from the inside, like the toilet. You would be very foolish to consider purchasing this unit.

Is this your Jayco or one you are considering buying?
You don't get a soft spot on the floor from a spill, it's from a leak.

It’s one we are considering buying.
  • What are your thoughts on the color? It has a blue tint which almost seems like it could be winterizing fluid. Checked the pantry to the left and not certain if it originated from there or not. I didn’t have good lighting but pounded on the floor and it felt solid.

  • I think you mean a soft spot on the floor.

Looking at your floor plan, you have a toilet to the right. That might have a leaky floor connector. You have a pop out and that is the access to the bed. Water might be coming down from a leak off the roof to wall connector, or around the seal from the pop out.

I would consider cutting out that section of lino back to the bathroom door, seeing if you can fix it after that, and replace it with a few pieces of wood grain flooring and a strip of connector.
