Wow... Have you taken a volt meter and checked how many volts you have when you are running the AC compared to not running the AC?
I ran my AC on my home 15a plug, using an extension cord, and my volts in the TT was only around 108V. The extension cord got hot after only a few minutes.
I didn't have anything else on electric at the time either.
I got a 3000 Honda generator and it runs the AC just fine.
I also installed a dedicated 30a RV plug for it at home and I can run the AC and the microwave at the same time. Just like in a 30a hookup site while camping.
When running on the gen or the 30a plug, I'm at 120v easily on either setup.
But, if all it takes is to shut down your gens and start them up again, I don't see what the big deal is? Just running the AC should not trip the gens, so maybe you had other electric things running in the trailer?
Hard to say what is going on with your setup, so I wish you the best of luck.
