I have read a few articles that state with the 6'10" Ford bed you have to build a platform to make room for the plumbing that drops down on the L650. Wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.
I have been looking at picking up a TC for quick and shorter trips. Have looked at the Lance 650 and 825 and also considered the Palomino 1251 pop up at half the price of the Lance's.
With a 74" trailer tongue I don't think you will have any issues. My enclosed trailer has an extended tongue to avoid contact with the back of the MH and I would have to be at an awful angle to get the trailer to hit the MH. My biggest concern with the trailer tongue will be hitting the TC jacks, I think.
I keep leaning towards the Lance 650 just so it will be almost even with the back of the bed. I almost always have the trailer or the jeep in tow so it would be nice to not use an extension or have to be under the TC to hook and unhook. I towed many miles with a lance and a open cargo trailer and should have kept them. Only pain for me was hitching the trailer under the TC. Wife didn't like the TC because it lacked a shower.
I also think you should be fine on the weights. I own and use an 8" extension and it feels no different and everything is wearing just fine. Gives me that little extra wiggle room and a little forgiveness with backing.
