Higher trim level half ton anything tend to be limited on payload and receiver ratings for towing a travel trailer well under the tow ratings. A 6000 pound dry TT will be about 7000 pounds loaded with 900 pounds of TW. That is right at the limit of the 2007+ Ford Expedition receiver limit. Only the GM twins have slightly higher at 1000 pound receiver limit. for SUVs. If you need more than 1000 pounds, you have to get into a full sized van or pickup truck.
Regarding the payload limitations, the vehicle has to support the people, pets, cargo and trailer tongue weight. So if you have 900 pounds of TW, 500 pounds of people, and 200 pounds of pets/cargo, then you need at least 1600 pounds of payload. Use your own estimates and then take a look as the as equipped payload as you shop vehicles. Each one has what it can carry with its factory equipment.

That said, my estimates for a Passport 2300 should be under 6000 pounds loaded with about 750 pounds of TW.
