HELP on buying the tow vehicle.

So we are ready to buy a tow vehicle and I'm tense about buying the wrong one. We have a bumper pull travel trailer. A Keystone Passport touring 2300bh. The dry weight is 4380 and hitch weight is 460. We are looking at large SUV's since we have animals that ride in the suv. We are looking at Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators. Not so easy finding either with full tow packages. I beleive they say the max weight for those vehicles is 9000. That's what they say anyway. So before we spend alot of money on an SUV to pull this trailer with can anyone tell me if an Expedition or Navigator is strong enough to tow this trailer? HELP!

  • not sure where you're getting the 9000lbs. for the Expy.
have you looked at the Ford Towing Guides for the years you are considering?

either way, an Expy or Navi, IF it has the factory tow package, should be able to easily tow your trailer.
  • What year of Ford Expedition / Lincolns are you looking at purchasing?

Depending on the year you should be pretty good. Try to find one with the factory tow package, 5.4 or Ecoboost (if purchasing new). That travel trailer is pretty light.

Be sure to open up the door jamb and look at the maximum payload capacity. This will be for the weight of all passenger's, gear and hitch weight. Depending on the vehicle this weight can go away pretty fast.
