I think some of the dually folks think one is needed for a popup. I made my case for a SRW earlier in the thread and stand by the fact that the new generation trucks are light years ahead of what was available before.
Just getting away from 17" tires was a large improvement in SRW trucks, as they have become the unwanted step child of tires with low ratings. Note that they are what is on the front of most diesel pickups and need to be run at 80 lbs inflation just to hold up the front of the dually.
If a person does not want a duallie (like me and DW more so) there are SRW truck that handle a 14995 5th wheel just fine. OP is not wanting to full time or hit 49 states and some of Canada.
In the case of the RAM's the gearing in the 3500 SRW with Aisin really works well creating a low RPM freeway cruise that easily tows up to it's 17K rating. Chris
