We got out Memory foam mattress from Walmart, it has two layers, one denser than the other. We added a 2" memory foam topper to it, just for more support. Very comfortable, yet firm with good support which helps both of out backs. The only thing I found out about is the pillow to use. As I sleep on my side, the mattress is very compressed under my shoulder, more so than a interspring mattress, so the right pillow to properly support my head and neck is important. Wrong pillow, and my neck hurts the next day.
