SO! Here's a fun little progress report: We got our trailer out of they hayfield and to our house. We've been working like crazy, planning to leave for the inaugural trip on Monday. Cushions felt really clean after washing, and I left them out sitting on the clothesline for a good week, stuffed them back into the cleaned covers and wrapped them in canvas. Looking good there!
Had one live mouse when we got it home but no sign of any mice since then.
We got all the carpet pulled up, only left the vinyl in the bathroom (intimidated by cutting around the toilet and it wasn't in bad shape like the super dirty carpet and vinyl that was peeling in the hallway).
LOVE the luxury vinyl planking that we used. Acacia wood design (on sale from Menards). It was really easy to install. I've never laid flooring by myself, and my 10yo DS helped me get it all done!
Rented a Rug Doctor to clean the jack-knife sofa cushions, planning to wrap it in the canvas fabric.
Used the shop-vac to vacuum out all the ductwork as best as I could, over and over until I couldn't hear anything getting sucked up. The hose reached from vent to vent, so I feel like I got it vac'd out pretty well.
Replaced the outside outlet cover, outside cover for electrical hookup and a couple other minor things. Bleached every surface I could reach :)
Fun stuff: Painting the upholstery on the edges of the dinette, sofa base and valances over the windows with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, painted the cupboard handles and dinette tables with hammered black spray paint.
Need to flush the water system and fire up the stove/furnace before we take off.
It's been crazy-busy (we still created dishes and laundry daily... and the laundry fairy forgot to come by again)
I think we'll use the futon for a mattress for now. Thanks for all the tips and advice thru the forums!
