Help...water heater question

I have a trailer in a permanent site. I left for the week on Sunday. I shut off the water but left the electric hot water heater button on. Is that bad to leave on with the water turned off? Should I go back to the trailer and turn it off or is it ok to leave it on until next Tuesday night when I go back again?

  • Good deal. I didn't drain anything I just turned off the water. Thanks for the help.
  • Unless you took steps to actually drain the water heater there is water in it and you will be fine.

As long as you had water in the heater it will be OK. If you drained the heater or drained the lines and it pulled out enough water from the heater, the damage is already done. It takes about a minute (or less) for the element to burn out without water. If the element burned out, it probably tripped the breaker or the circuit is open, no worries.

    X2

Works just like your home water heater. I know I don't turn it off every time I leave the house. Should be just fine.
