help with some mold in the RV fridge

Need some help with mold in the RV fridge please.

Somehow over the winter the fridge door closed.

There is a bit of mold in the fridge, and an odd smell.

What to do?
  • I fill a small dish of baking soda and place it in my frig to take care of odors. I have also left a dish of baking soda in my dishwasher for a week to clean out a sour smell after not using it for a month. But both appliances were closed up while taking care of odors.

Added note---- I do this in my house ...
  • Just as a suggestion - we throw a hand towel or large rag over the door between trips. This stops the door from accidentally being closed. If your camper is a newer model, some of them have a little slide on the door that moves over to do the same thing. Happy camping.
  • Common problem .. easy to clan as discussed above. In the future when you store rig consider leaving fridge door slightly ajar to allow air to circulate (some fridges come with plastic clips that will keep door ajar).
  • Here is one way to Remove Mold.

I like to use diluted bleach.

Whatever you use, rinse well and allow to dry before putting the fridge back into service.
  • Spray the areas with a mixture of 20% bleach and water. That should take care of it.
