I'm going to be the odd man out here. In my world ( your world may vary ! ) there is not a place for a 2500 or 3500 SRW. I have a "small 1/2 ton" ( Nissan Frontier, gas ) and a F350 diesel DRW. My opinion is, either a half ton can do the job ( small trailers ) and if it can't, might as well go to a 350 DRW.
Pulling gooseneck or fifth wheel is so nice and stable with a dually.
In my mind, with a 3/4 ton or a 1 ton SRW, you've already stepped into the "ride penalty" category, so you might as well go all the way to DRW.
It's true though that a DRW is not the ideal daily commuter to a congested city/urban setting, if that's what you have to do. When I go to the city, I take the Frontier.
