Hemi 6.4 or Cummins
I have to upgrade my Ram 1500 for a new 2500. I have limited funds so I can either afford the Ram 6.4 Hemi STL with all the bells and whistle I want or the stripped down Tradesman with the cummin...

Gas station I pass on the way to Lowe's shows gas at 2.39 and diesel at 4.09...not sure if that is representative but what a difference in fuel costs, plus the added maintenance of a diesel. I would only consider the Cummins if you are planning to buy that big honkin' 5er, or if you tow at high elevations all the time.
There's more to a truck that just the drivetrain....you want to travel and camp in comfort, I would rather have a few bells/whistles on the truck and go up the occasional steep hill a little slower than feed that big diesel riding around with a rubber floor, vinyl seats and an AM radio.
I would pass that diesel station fast. I see on Gas Buddy that diesel in your area is around $2.61-$2.79
