Here's some more intel on the new Stellantis (French) engine. In addition I don't see dual injectors including the Port injectors that's critical to prevent carbon build up on the intake valves. As for the Dodge Charger and Challenger they might as well obsolete them along with the Hemi, and reintroduce the K car with the inline engines.

A 500 hp K-car would make quite a sleeper! :B- BenKExplorerGood explanation
ENGINE BALANCE: Inline 6 vs. V6 vs. VR6 vs. Flat-Boxer 6
Can attest to giving up on buddies 1972 911S's new timing chain install. Timing chain stretch is a big problem with 911S's. That chain was over 8 feet long - NamMedevac_70Explorer IIAfter having worked with them overseas for many years I don't care for anything french and doing just fine with the V8 Hemi without anything french thank you. I am very happy they are closer to than me. See you at the rodeo.

Link - Me_AgainExplorer IIIThink about the original Camaro Z28 engine 4" bore and 3" stroke. So way over square.
"Aside from its heritage, what really made the 302 cubic-inch engine special was how unique it was. The engine was given an oversquare design, created by the 4.00-inch bore and 3.00-inch stroke. The large bore coupled with the short stroke allowed the engine to rev well into the 7,000 rpm range" My note: Actually the 327 block with the 283 crank installed.
1967 - 1969 with 4 Barrel Carb 302 Z28
Max Brake Horsepower: 290 @ 5800 rpm (Actual horsepower was reported to be somewhere in the 360 to 400 range)
Max Torque: 290 @ 4200 rpm
I had had a 1967 SS350 Camaro and it was 4" x 3.48".
'67 CHEVROLET CAMARO SS-350
Basic price $2572
Engine 350-cid V-8
Horsepower @ rpm (gross) 295 @ 4800
Torque, lb-ft @ rpm (gross) 380 @ 3200
The Z28 was a much faster car!!! - It will be interesting to see torque figures, especially in the HO version. They are talking around 500 hp. Undersquare engines typically don't rev as high as oversquare, especially turbocharged DI versions. The turbo DI 4 cylinder in my VW is undersquare and makes its peak hp at just 4800 rpm. The new HO Hurricane will either have north of 500 lb/ft of torque, or make its peak power at about 5500 rpm or higher.

In-line is smoother and of higher torque, generally speaking, than V's
I6 will always have more low end torque.
Why?
Longer stroke in most cases. Or under square. V engines tend to be square or over square.
Under square = bore less than stroke
Square = Bore and stroke the same
Over square = bore more than stroke
Short stroke engines make RPM's and HP
Long stroke engines make torque.
That is why OTR trucks are mostly I-6, and Cat and other V-8s have gone by by!

It’s an inherent design. I believe it has to do with all the cylinders being inline.
I6 are inherently better balanced than a 90 degree V6.Lwiddis wrote:
Exciting times but no Hemis and none of these new engines will be sold in California after 2034.
2030 in Washington state.
