This is/was my situation, precisely. I mentioned that I really didn't have a reason to buy this type of hitch, other than curiosity.
They really do improve upon already good set ups, mostly noticeable when things get rough such highway maneuvers, and solid control during high winds and fast moving storms. I think everyone using one of these would agree, there are countless posts stating the very same claim.
But that's not to say these are needed or ever required. I would chalk it up as a performance improvement along with a more comfortable towing experience for long distances...which you pay for like any other performance mod.
