1/2 ton Diesel is probably the answer to CAFE regs for most manufacturers these days.
Ford is following in RAM footsteps, hopefully they don't make Nissan's mistake with their offering..
I haven't looked too much into the "Cummins" Nissan. What's the mistake you refer to?
My guess is he is referring to the fact they basically positioned it in no man's land. Too big to have a significant (or any) advantage in MPG, and too small too have an advantage in power.
EcoDiesel blows it away in MPG, and the 1500 offerings from GM/Ford/RAM are very competitive in power.
The short of it is, the 5.0 seems to get similar MPG as the bigger diesels in 2500/3500 trucks, but with half the torque.
