You're right TexasChaps.
The question is, how much will the diesel option cost (arm/leg/firstborn), and how much payload will you lose in a light duty chassis vehicle for it?
I was shopping for a truck recently, ended up with the truck in my sig, which was cheaper and more capable than a F150, for $3-5000 less on average compared to most of the F150s they had on dealer lots.
The aluminum body isn't cheap, it costs money. Ford has to recoup the costs of that bad boy. And it's going to recoup them from the customers.
Diesel development isn't cheap. That will raise the costs as well.
By the time all is said and done, in a year or two, people will be paying $55k for a mid-level trim (non-leather). It's getting ridiculous.
Plus, I would not buy a Ford diesel first year anything. Or a Dodge for that matter, or a GM, or a Nissan.
