Here is why Ford is going with a 3.0 diesel in their f-150
This pick was taken driving to Dads this weekend. The pick was taken a half mile before the last toll booth on 80/90 in Ohio all highway.

This pick was taken a half mile before exit 64 to I-75 with non highway drive included almost all country driving with no resets.

There where four adults in the truck, note the cruse control was set at 80 mpg going to and 70 mpg coming home (on the turnpike) average speed off the pike on country roads was 65 mph and there are town small towns that you have to drop down to 25 mph or you will get a driving award.
My meter runs within .5 to 1 mpg of hand calculation. There is not a Ecoboost out there that can make that kind of mileage at those speeds not the 3.5 and not the 2.7?. As for the up charge to the diesel goes, the EB is not a free upgrade either so that comment is BS. As for the "No DEF to deal with, no inflated engine price to deal with, and no searching out diesel fuel in town gas stations" Even the little towns of Camden and Reading Mi. have diesel fuel as does almost every town in the Country now. This isn't 1980 anymore dude! LOL
