When I had my TC on the truck, I measured and felt a 60" extension was needed. One of my (non) superpowers is never writing things down. 60" seems really long. What do you guys use on your big Arctic Fox 11xx campers?

My Host Everest works just fine with a 42" extension.

I have a 41 and a 48 because my trailers have different tongue lengths. I started with the 41 but my cargo trailer tongue was too short and my jacks would hit the front of the trailer so I doubled down and bought the longer 48. The question is what are you towing? The longer 48 has a lesser tongue weight rating because obviously it's longer. I personally would go with the longer one just because it gives you that extra space if you don't need the larger weight rating of the shorter one. BTW....you do have a class 5 hitch right?One side note.. You can cut these to any length. There is (are) measurement guide stickers to show where this could be done if necessary.

The farther it sticks out the back, the less tongue weight you can have. Put another way, the longer the lever the more mechanical advantage it has.

I plan to pull a trailer with a RZR Turbo S. Likely up to 5000 lbs. I plan to have a superhitch magnum but I have yet to install one. If I could get away with just the factory hitch, I would be happy.

I think our old AF 1150 overhung about the same as our new camper.What size is your hitch? Info below will require a 2-1/2"I got the 48" Reese and cut it down due to hitting the spare (and not needing any extra weight) and drilled a new pin hole so that it was flush to the end of the camper. I don't recall the length but you can always shorten a longer hitch. They may even be heavier construction that the shorter ones. Ours has a second tube steel inside the outer at the section. It is not light.The angled chain has since been moved up towards the end of the receiver. As I have learned flat towing, while there is no vertical weight on the hitch the horizontal loads of the towed vehicle are strong.

The receiver is that close to the bumper on a newer ram? Who knew? You newer owners of course. Us older truck owners just try to keep up...well good info. They have so much more stuff out there now these days from when I started....so if I fall down please pick me up and point me in the right direction so everyone can learn. I looked back at your pic post and I guess your right ....that is close.

Thats my issue. The hitch on this thing is super beefy. I might reach out to one of the extension manufacturers and see if they have a 3" in the works. I would not feel comfortable trying to fab one myself.

Put a Torklift Superhitch Magnum and 48” Super Truss and never look back. Enjoy the ride.

The new(er) Ford 3" hitch receivers have a 2100lb hitch weight rating, without a wdh. Even a 48" extension would allow you over 500lbs and still be within the mfgs ratings. Without suggesting you exceed that, if you're only towing up to a 5000lb trailer, I would make full use of the best OE hitch offered on a pickup truck and just get a stout section of 3x3x1/2" HSS, drill 2 holes to pin it into the receiver and 2 more to insert a 2" hitch into the extension, fab up some safety chain hooks, either welded on or clamped on and call er a day.
Depending on the trailer style/tongue length, you could get by with as little as 36" extension.

In short, I wouldn't junk that stout of a hitch for your intended use.

Yeah you have to take the extra steps to prevent the little bit of play on both ends...oh and by the way....did anyone mention how heavy these extension are? Be prepared....having 2 people bringing it from the garage to the truck is recommended...lol!

The last pic is off etraiiler just to pass along the tow rating decal. I do have wobble stops at the truck reciever and at the drop hitch.

work2much, awesome setup you got....Love the idea of the cinch system on your hitch (or is it yours?)....what kind is it? Is it part of the hitch itself or something that will work with existing hitches?...would like to see a few more pics if possible. LOL.. you signed up 15 days after I did...we been here awhile.
