what's everyone greasing their hitch with? always just used a smear of Vaseline on the ball but suspect now that I have a pro series WD hitch that calls for grease with each use I should get an oil? L...

Yes, grease is greasy and messy....but it's part of the towing adventure and necessary.
The manufacturer says grease it and I think they know more than others who didn't design or manufacturer the part.
I use this....one jar has lasted over 10 years.
Yes I've got grease on my jeans changed into a new pair only to get grease on those as well.
