what's everyone greasing their hitch with? always just used a smear of Vaseline on the ball but suspect now that I have a pro series WD hitch that calls for grease with each use I should get an oil? L...

You aren't thinking about an electric tongue jack are you? Those do use the hitch frame as the ground. They have a hot wire running from the jack to the positive side of the battery. As long as you have a good metal to metal contact, just tightening it to the trailer frame provides the negative contact.
