what's everyone greasing their hitch with? always just used a smear of Vaseline on the ball but suspect now that I have a pro series WD hitch that calls for grease with each use I should get an oil? L...

Those hitches still move up and down working the latch hard, apply grease to minimize the damage.
I lubricate the latch system, but not the ball. After 6 years, there is no sign of damage to the coupler that I can see.
